The first school newspaper "Keeping up with LLIS" will be published on Thursday, 20 June 2024!
Editors-in-chief Richard, Konstantin, Felix and Malek have been working on the idea for months after getting to know each other in the leadership workshop at LLIS. From the outset, it was important to them to work independently as a student initiative and only with administrative help from teachers.
Founding the school newspaper was challenging and instructive. Organising the team of around 35 people from all age groups required good coordination and cooperation. In terms of content, they had to find interesting topics for their school community and develop journalistic skills such as researching, writing and editing articles. Dealing with feedback and criticism was also part of the process. Technically, the students learnt how to use layout and design software, which gave them an insight into graphic design and digital media production. Another challenge was funding. The students raised money through sponsorships, fundraisers and ad sales, which strengthened their marketing and financial planning skills. On Thursday, they are therefore also asking for voluntary donations, although the first issue will be distributed free of charge. Stay tuned for Thursday!
